The Lucerne Clinic is one of Switzerland's leading aesthetic clinics, offering an extensive range of treatments online, from breast surgery and body and facial procedures to laser treatments. The goal of the project was to create a website that makes this depth of information accessible in a structured way and reliably guides prospective patients to a consultation. Based on the web design by Manuel Alonso, we conceived the entire technical architecture and implemented it in WordPress. Two requirements were central: the clinic needed to be able to manage every content area independently, and the website had to be designed for visibility from the very first line of code.
Custom WordPress theme instead of a modular builder solution
The website is based on a fully custom-developed theme. We deliberately avoided generic page builders because such systems lose loading speed and maintainability as the site grows. Instead, virtually every visible element has its own backend counterpart, built from flexible content modules, custom post types for treatments, doctor profiles, patient stories, and media reports, as well as custom taxonomies for treatment zones. Centrally managed content, such as team profiles or prices, is automatically displayed on all linked pages. Validated fields and defined image formats ensure that the editorial team can work freely without compromising the layout or semantic structure.
SEO and GEO architecture planned from the start
Before implementation, we built the information architecture based on the search intent of individual treatment topics and anchored the technical foundations directly within the theme. These include, among others:
- Structured data
- Meta titles and meta descriptions
- Canonical tags and page-level robots control
- Segmented XML sitemap that updates automatically with new content
- Consistent URL structure and systematic internal linking along topic clusters
- Semantic HTML with a clean heading hierarchy
- Image optimization with WebP, responsive srcset definitions, lazy loading, and alt text
For AI-powered search systems, the fragmentability of content is also crucial. Treatment pages are therefore divided into clearly defined, self-contained sections—such as surgical technique, procedure, risks, and pricing—each addressable via its own anchor link and supported by structured data.

AI chatbot with clinic-specific knowledge base
Anyone considering an aesthetic procedure has questions that rarely arise during business hours. For these moments, we integrated an AI chatbot into the website that is not based on general internet knowledge, but on the clinic's verified content. Treatment descriptions, procedures, aftercare, price ranges, financing, and the most frequently asked patient questions form the knowledge base, which we have prepared, structured, and continuously refined during operation.
The chatbot provides factual answers in the clinic's tone, consistently refers individual medical questions to a personal consultation, and guides interested parties directly to appointment booking. This creates a channel for the clinic that covers initial information around the clock and relieves the team of recurring standard questions.
Performance, security, and a foundation for further growth
The plugin stack is intentionally kept lean, with features developed directly within the theme where appropriate. This reduces the attack surface and potential conflicts during updates. Caching, optimized database queries for the extensive archives, and consistent media optimization ensure stable Core Web Vitals. Consultation requests, online appointment booking, callback requests, and the patient portal are integrated into clearly guided contact paths. Because the structure, CMS logic, and SEO/GEO foundations are cleanly separated, the platform grows with the company without requiring a rebuild of the architecture for new treatments or language versions.
